Notes for Summer Prep: Summer math resources for use with students who just completed Grades 1 or 2 in May or June. Download the documents described here under the heading, “Book Resource Files,” below. It is recommended to select one color to print all of the resources for Grade Band 1-2, and to select other colors for the other grade bands. The suggested color for Grade Band 1-2 is blue, but use the color assortment available to the METS.
Educator Guide for Grade Band 1-2: Provides the Educator with the overall organization and coding of resources along with specific summer math objectives for Grades 1 and 2, along with general directions about using the math activities with First and Second Grade students. The Educator Guide includes ideas for expanding the use of these resources throughout one week for a summer school setting.
Units 1- 5: Educator and Student Packets: Each Unit has an Educator Packet and a Student Packet. The Educator Packets provide specific directions and answer keys for the Unit. The Student Packets have the student response pages and game boards. Note: Many of the student pages have the Spanish translation on the same page as the English, so both languages are in one Student Packet.

Grade Band 1-2 Icon= Crayon: Summer Math uses icons to code the Educator and Student Packets. Look for the “crayon” on Grade Band 1-2 resources.
Math Lessons: Grade Band 1-2 has three math lessons from the Math Matters curriculum that Educators can use if they identify skill areas that individual students need additional instruction. (See the Educator Guide for more details.)
Summer Assessments: Students just completing First Grade take the first grade assessments, coded with one crayon icon. Grade 1 pre- and post-tests have a script that the Educator reads plus a student copy for the student to follow along and write the solutions. Students just finishing Second Grade use the second grade assessments, coded with two crayon icons. Grade 2 assessments are for the students to read and write their solutions. Note: Student assessments are available in English or Spanish.
MASTER Copy: This has everything for Grade Band 1-2 in one download, starting with the Educator Guide and ending with the post-test. It can be printed 2-sided.
