Completing the Personal Learning Plan for OSY

Description

During this session, participants take a walk-through of filling out all the information needed for the Personal Learning Plan (PLP). We will

  • Use the PLP in both the paper and web app versions;
  • Break long-term goals into short-term goals; and
  • Create essential steps to achieve these short-term goals.

The content in this presentation is geared towards serving the migrant populations in New York State as defined under Title I, Part C and the approved State Service Delivery Plan, and may NOT be appropriate to all situations.

Objectives/Learning Targets

  1. Identify long-Term Goals and breaking them down into short-term goal
  2. Creating essential steps to achieve these short-term goals
  3. Learn what data is required for data reporting

About the Presenters

Odilia Coffta: Odilia has worked for the NYS Migrant Education Program since 2007, holding different positions including, recruiter, data specialist, and tutor advocate. Odilia has been involved in the planning and administration of SOMLA and the online HOLA since 2016. Odilia coordinates New York’s participation in the recently completed GOSOY and the new iSOSY consortium incentive grants.

Travis Williamson: In his 13th year with the Migrant Education Program, Travis has held many positions. While working alongside with OSY Specialists and fellow recruiters around the nation, he has had the opportunity to share his ideas and strategies in hopes to better serve our students.

Travis has been with the ID&R program, after a three-year stay with the South Carolina Department of Education where he played a role in all of the duties associated with their MEP. Travis currently is a member of the iSOSY and IDRC consortia and has presented at several national and state conferences to demonstrate how mapping and technological strategies can improve with serving and finding students.
