Administer MEP Assessments Virtually

Description

Participants will review the 2020-21 ECA, easyCBM, and BOLST assessment tools, discuss the process of administering the assessment virtually/remotely, and learn about best practices for consistent administration and data collection. Use one registration form to join one, two, or all three trainings. The morning’s agenda is as follows:

  • 9:00am – BOLST
  • 10:15 – easyCBM
  • 11:30 - ECA

Presenter Information

Travis Williamson (BOLST)

In his 13th year with the Migrant Education Program, Travis has held many positions.  While working alongside with OSY Specialists and fellow recruiters around the nation, he has had the opportunity to share his ideas and strategies in hopes to better serve our students.

Travis has been with the ID&R program, after a three-year stay with the South Carolina Department of Education where he played a role in all of the duties associated with their MEP. Travis currently is a member of the GOSOSY IRRC consortia and has presented at several national and state conferences to demonstrate how mapping and technological strategies can improve with serving and finding students.

Lisa Rivera (easyCBM)

Lisa Rivera currently plays two roles in the NYS-MEP, working as the Training Program Coordinator with the ID&R Program, and as the Data Clerk for the Fredonia METS. She has been working in the field of migrant education for over 15 years, and has played a variety of roles. Lisa started her career at the Genesee Valley METS, where she coordinated many activities, including parent engagement programs, adolescent events, ESL classes with OSY students, scholarship committee and fundraising events, as well as, the daily operations and data entry for the METS office.

Mary Anne Diaz (ECA)

Mary Anne was hired as a part-time tutor in 1983 with the Cortland METS. She worked in a variety of roles. Within a METS: Data Specialist, Early Childhood and Parent Specialist, collaborating with grants from the Geneseo Migrant Center (HIPPY, Even Start), as well as serving as Interim Director, and a substitute Migrant Specialist. Mary Anne has participated with national Consortium Incentive Grants, from computer training in 1984 to a decade with the Math Consortium, and one year with GOSOSY. She currently works with the Technical Assistance & Support Center through SUNY Brockport. Mary Anne has a B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Reading.

Print a hard copy of the BOLST, and have in front of you for the training. You can find this document in the resource files below.

easyCBM

No need to print anything for this portion of the workshop. Grades 3-8 reading fluency passages and the assessor forms were emailed to those who registered. Below you will find the easyCBM PowerPoint notes.

NOTE for after the workshop! If you need the Fall 2020 reading fluency passages and forms for grades 3-8 and you do not have them in your email, please reach out and we will direct you where to get them.

ECA

Before the workshop,

  1. Please print the attachment, “ECA-PRINT ME.” (You can print two-sided to save paper.)
  2. Plan to open the other attachment, “ECA Graphics-SCREEN SHARE ME,” so you can practice screen sharing with it.
