Description
The SUNY Oneonta Migrant Leadership Academy (SOMLA) is a 10-day program that provides eligible migrant students with the opportunity to enhance their college readiness, self-awareness, and leadership skills. This workshop will explain the benefits of sending eligible migrant students to SOMLA this coming July 2020. Participants will learn about the mission and objectives of this program, its main components, tips about the paperwork to be submitted, and an overview of what students can expect when arriving at SUNY Oneonta.
The content in this presentation is geared towards serving the migrant populations in New York State as defined under Title I, Part C and the approved State Service Delivery Plan, and may NOT be appropriate to all situations.
Objectives
After this presentation, participants:
1. will have a greater understanding of the mission and benefits of sending students to SOMLA
2. will learn about the major components of SOMLA 2020

About the Presenter
Odilia has worked for the NYS Migrant Education Program since 2007, where she has held different positions including, recruiter, data specialist, and tutor advocate. Odilia has been involved in the planning and administration of SOMLA since 2016.
