Description

Join this “show-and-tell” session to trade ideas with your colleagues. Sign up to share your favorite lessons used virtually with adolescent, dropout and/or OSY students!

In order to save time during the session, please let us know ahead of time if you have a lesson to share. You can provide your lesson information when you register, or email Travis Williamson at twilliamsonidr@gmail.com at least 2 days prior of the session’s date.

  • Please include the name of the lesson,
  • about how much time you need (5 minutes? Less?), and
  • any other additional information about the lesson (platform, age group, etc.).

Travis will be sharing many of these lessons with other members of the iSOSY Consortium. Formerly known as GOSOSY, the current version of the consortium grant, Instructional Services for Out-of-school and Secondary Youth (iSOSY) now targets services for at-risk secondary students in addition to its traditional focus on Out-of-School Youth.

The content in this presentation is geared towards serving the migrant populations in New York State as defined under Title I, Part C and the approved State Service Delivery Plan, and may NOT be appropriate to all situations.

Objective

  • Learn lesson ideas from colleagues.

Presented/Developed by

Travis Williamson, NYS-MEP Out-of School Youth Training Coordinator; Instructional Services for Out-of-school and Secondary Youth (iSOSY) Coordinator; Statewide Recruiter

Astrid Poulton, Migrant Educator at Oswego METS and North Country METS.

About the Presenters

Travis Williamson: In his 13th year with the Migrant Education Program, Travis has held many positions. While working alongside with OSY Specialists and fellow recruiters around the nation, he has had the opportunity to share his ideas and strategies in hopes to better serve students.

Travis has been with the ID&R program, after a three-year stay with the South Carolina Department of Education where he played a role in all of the duties associated with their MEP. Travis currently is a member of the iSOSY and IDRC consortia and has presented at several national and state conferences to demonstrate how mapping and technological strategies can improve with serving and finding migrant students.

Astrid Poulton has been working for the Oswego METS for two and a half years. She has students from P-3 to Out-of-School Youth. Astrid started with a few students in Lewis County, and last year had the opportunity to work with students from all over New York State.
