WHEN

Thursday, March 30, 2023 (1-3pm). This workshop was recorded. Please see below.

DESCRIPTION

The June 15th Algebra I Regents Exam is just around the corner! In this two-hour interactive session, participants review key algebra skills needed to pass the test. Join us to practice test taking skills and solving problems together for one and two-step equations, parabolas, and the addition and subtraction of positive and negative integers. Additionally, we will review the rules for exponents and using the FOIL method and discuss vocabulary, terminology, and formulas. Walk away with coordinating “cheat sheets” which you can use with students!

Participants are encouraged to have a TI84 Graphing Calculator available for use during the workshop to assist with learning how to use the tool properly. Problem solving, showing your work, and going back to check your answer can also be fun!

Participants will leave ready to maximize 10 weeks of springtime instructional sessions to help students succeed (and get the most points possible!) on the Algebra I Regents exam. We are all learning together, so prior expertise in Algebra is not required!  Your instructional support and ongoing encouragement will help your students achieve the important step of passing the Algebra I Regents.

OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

  1. practice test-taking skills and solving common Algebra I problems,
  2. leave with cheat sheets to use with students, and
  3. hear about tips for using the TI84 Graphing Calculator.
